Went from captain to manager for the 2007/08 season narrowly missing out on a first-season title win finishing in 2nd spot. Played a handful of games in the 07/08 season and a solitary appearance in the double winning campaign!

Mark Newson – Assistant Manager
Mark is a former professional player having played for AFC Bournemouth, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Vaxjo International in Sweden. ‘Newse’ started as a professional with Charlton Athletic before enjoying a distinguished non-league career with Maidstone United before being snapped up by then Bournemouth manager Harry Redknapp where he captained the side to the Third Division championship in 1987. Mark then continued his career for a number of high profile non-league clubs including Barnet, Aylesbury United, Gravesend & Northfleet (now Ebbsfleet) and Fisher Athletic. Mark is fully qualified coach who works for the Kent FA and also at the David Beckham Academy as a senior coach and teamed up with the squad for the away day win at Enfield at the end of November 2009.

Andy Silk– Coach
Andy joined the backroom staff for the 08/09 season having helped Tooting & Mitcham gain promotion to the Ryman Premier last season. Silky enjoyed a successful playing career at Bromley, Cray Wanderers and more recently Slade Green. Enjoyed KL title successes during his playing days at Cray Wanderers and also signed on as cover for the Vickers for the 08/09 season. Silky brought his lucky title winning charm to Oakwood in his first season playing a key part in the backroom ’dream team’ that secured the long awaited Kent League Title in 08/09. Silky is often found watching other teams as part of the preparation for future games.

Terry Groom – Youth Development Manager
Terry is an essential part of the VCD backroom staff and is one of the longest serving people at the club. As well as running highly successful junior sides at the club Terry is the Youth Development manager providing the link between the first team and the junior sides. An ex player who enjoyed a successful career winning the Kent League at Erith & Belvedere back in 1982 and also turned out for Bromley, Alma Swanley, Darenth Heathside and Crockenhill. Terry is a former Chelsea youth player who has also played with former internationals Tony Cascarino, Andy Townsend and Paul Walsh. A Vickers stalwart, Groomy keeps an eye on the future first team players working closely with the First Team Management.

Barry Bell – GK Coach
Barry joined the club in October 08 at the same time as James Tedder rejoined the club as he had been working with James at Ryman North side Chatham Town. Barry is a fully qualified Goalkeeping coach who has worked at a number of clubs including Pheonix Sports, Dartford and Chatham Town. Barry is working with all of the senior goalkeepers from 1st team down to U18 level and is a valuable asset for the club. Barry has a wealth of experience having coached many goalkeepers in the area and is providing one to one tuition with James Tedder who has a real future in the game. Barry has been instrumental in getting the kit and equipment at the club to a very professional level through hard work and getting key sponsors in.

Phil Jeffs– Club Physiotherapist

Phil has been a Chartered Physiotherapist for 6 years. He works in Maidstone Hospital as an Outpatient Physiotherapist and also in A&E as an ‘Extended Scope Practitioner’. He joined the club at the beginning of the 2008/09 season to provide assessment and rehabilitation to the first and senior teams as well as the youth sides. Phil played a key part in getting players back on the pitch to keep the momentum of the title campaign going and is always looking to introduce new ideas to the fitness and injury prevention programmes for each player.

James Tedder – Goalkeeper
James returned to the club mid-way through the title winning season having started the 08/09 season at Ryman North side Chatham Town. Having been an ever-present for the 07/08 season and attracting a lot of interest from other clubs James decided to try his hand at the next level but decided to return back to Oakwood and pick up where he had left off. A former Dartford FC youth player who progressed through the ranks and appeared for the first team, James stands 6 feet 7 and possesses excellent technical ability and kicking. Still only 21, James is a real prospect for the future and one that we hope progresses with the club as we both look to climb the pyramid. James is known for his records of clean sheets with 500+ minutes without a goal being recorded in the 08/09 season.

John Parsons – Goalkeeper
John joined the club in January 2009 to compete for the Number 1 jersey at the club, being a stablemate of James Tedder under the watchful guidance of the GK coach Barry Bell. John impressed the management in training and put pen to paper for the 2nd half of the 08/09 season. An agile stopper with good handling and distribution, John is hoping to break into the first team at some point soon pushing James Tedder all the way. Previously turned out between the sticks for local neighbours Pheonix Sports so is no stranger to the Crayford area! Only 22, John has a real future at the club also and has quickly bedded down with the club making his debut for the reserves at Faversham in Feb 09.

Tim Roberts - Goalkeeper
22 year-old goalkeeper who signed for Dulwich Hamlet from Croydon FC. Went to Erith Town where he has been signed on a dual registration as cover for James Tedder and Jack Bradshaw who were both away at the same time in March 2010.

Previously played for Cray Wanderers in the Ryman South as a 17 year old before signing for Erith Town in the KL where his impressive performances caught the eye of many clubs. Put in some fine performances for the absent James Tedder in the fine run of results away to Harlow, Tilbury and home to Redbridge conceding just one goal. A very promising prospect who is pushing James Tedder for the no 1 jersey.

Kane Rice – Defence/Midfield
Kane joined the club midway through the 2007/08 season and quickly became a fans favourite with his skilful and pacy displays either as an attacking full back or a wide midfielder. Kane represented Eire at U14 to U17 level and has attracted the attention of many league clubs as a young player. Came to the Vickers from Maidstone United to get valuable first team experience and is an integral part of the squad now. Scored the goal of the 07/08 season away to Croydon and topped it last year with the winning goal from 25 yards in the Kent Senior Trophy final against Erith & Belvedere,

Kevin Winchcombe – Defence/Midfield
Kevin has also played for Thamesmead and Erith & Belvedere and has considerable Southern League experience. A fierce competitor and excellent ball striker ‘Winchy’ is an integral part of the team especially as he is comfortable in a number of positions on either side of the pitch. Part of the VCD team that finished runners up on the final day of the season being pipped to the title by Maidstone United in 2002. ‘Winchy’ ended the 07/08 season as full back and continued in that position for the 08/09 season putting in some fine performances earning him two player of the year awards in the double winning campaign .

Jason Dolby - Defence/Midfield
Jason signed for the Vickers in March 2010 having played all season earning rave reviews at Ramsgate in the Ryman South. Jason is part of the footballing Dolby family with brother Ryan playing for Bromley in the Blue Square South and cousin Tony who is manager of Ryman Premier side Hastings (also a former Millwall, Barnet, Gravesend and Welling midfielder). Jason is a 21 year old defender has also played for Kent County side Cray Valley PM in 2007/08 and is set to feature in the remaining ten games of the 2010 season and has been signed with the 2010/11 season in mind.

David Hunt – Full Back/Centre Half
Dave picked up all three Player of the Year trophies in the 07/08 season and is regarded as one of the best natural defenders at the club. Good in the air for his height, he has been at the club since youth level playing in the same team as Gary Ward. ‘Hunty’ is a versatile defender who can play either side as full back but played the majority of games in the title winning campaign at centre half picking up where he left off on his excellent season the year before.

Jason Barton – Defence/Midfield
Jason signed for the club in mid September 2009 from Ryman South side Walton & Hersham. The former Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone United and Redhill left footed player has been pursued for some time by the manager and made his debut in the FA Cup exit at the hands of AFC Totton putting in a fine display. ‘Barts’ is comfortable in defence or in midfield and brings his considerable experience and strength to the side teaming up with former Stones team-mate Nick Hegley on the left hand side. A fierce competitor with high workrate, Jason has quickly bedded into his new surroundings.

Gary Cook – Centre Half
Gary joined the club from KL club Herne Bay at the start of the 2007 season following some impressive displays and enjoyed a fine debut season for the Vickers picking up many MoM awards. ‘Cooky’ is a local lad who has returned to his roots despite attracting the interest of many higher league clubs. Dangerous from set pieces and quick for a tall defender, Cooky has formed an excellent partnership with David Hunt at the heart of the defence and picked up the Player’s Player of the Year Award for the title winning campaign.

Kevin Watson - Defence
Kevin joined the club at the start of December 2009 from Ryman North side Concord Rangers having scored the winner for Rangers in the FA Trophy tie at Oakwood in October. Kevin is a vastly experienced player having played for Carshalton Athletic, Welling United, Team Bath, Maidstone United, Folkestone Invicta to name but a few. Kevin started his career at Charlton Athletic and made his debut for the Vickers in the 2-1 win over Wingate & Finchley at the heart of the defence. Kevin has also been capped for the English Students and British University teams and can play either at full back or centre half and has been known to play in midfield also during his career. Kevin is 28 years old and a former team-mate of Vickers captain Danny Penny from their days together at Welling United.

Jack Asbury - Defence/Midfield
Jack is yet another product of the fine Vickers' youth academy having signed for Ricky Bennett's u18s side from Ebbsfleet and progressing to become captain of the U21/reserve side while still only 19 years of age. Made his debut as a second half substitute in the 4-2 Kent Senior Cup win over Thamesmead Town at Oakwood and has gone on to become a valuable squad member making his first start in the 0-0 draw at home to Redbridge in March 2010. Jack is an assured full back with a wise head on young shoulders and is highly thought of by the first team and reserve team management. Can also play wide right or as a wing back.

George Mitchell – Defence
George is another product of Vicker’s youth system who has come through the ranks making his full debut against Greenwich Borough in the vital 4-0 win at Harrow Meadow. Previously with Ebbsfleet, George decided to join the Vickers to play for the U16s with the promise of 1st team football in 2-3 years and he has fulfilled that promise. Calm and assured with an experienced head on young shoulder, George is one of the ‘Teenage Three’ along with Tom Bradshaw and Uche Ibemere who the management have high hopes for. Strong in the air and an assured passer, George is dangerous from attacking set pieces standing well over 6 foot tall.

Tom Bradshaw – Midfield
Tom is a product of the promising Under 18s side (now u21 side) managed by Ricky Bennett and has come through the ranks making his debut against Blue Square South side Welling United in the London Senior Cup in October 08. Tom has been an ever-present in the squad ever since scoring a season defining all-important equalizer in the FA Vase 2nd Round victory over Mildenhall Town. Tom is only 17 years of age and is following in the footsteps of other successful youth products at VCD such as David Hunt and Gary Ward. A pacy right side player with good skill and two good feet who is a prolific goalscorer and excellent ball-striker.

Nick Hegley – Midfield
Nick joined the Vickers at the start of the 08/09 season from Ryman Premier side Maidstone United having been a member of the promotion winning side that won the KL and the Ryman South. Heggers is another pacy winger with great skill and quick feet who is able to deliver whipped in crosses into the box. Suffered an ankle injury in the friendly with Tooting & Mitcham and made his long awaited debut in the 2-0 victory over Slade Green as a 2nd half substitute. Heggers is a full backs nightmare and finished the title winning campaign as the season’s 3rd top scorer on 12 goals.

Stephen Hogg – Midfield
Stephen joined the club in 2004 from Maidstone United, being part of the same Stones team as the manager that were pipped to the title by Cray Wanderers in 2003 on the final day of the season. ‘Hoggy’ is a hard working midfielder who protects the back four well and also pops up with important goals, one such streak producing five goals in as many matches in the 04/05 season. A former Chelsea youth player and Folkestone, Dover and Ashford Town player with considerable experience given his age. Hoggy has passed 100 games now for the Vickers and is working his way back to fitness after missing the majority of the 08/09 campaign with a bad ankle break.

Gary Ward – Midfield
Gary is in his second spell with the club after leaving to join Whitstable Town a couple of seasons ago. An assured footballer who has the ability to control a game from midfield, Gary also had a brief spell with Ryman League side Cray Wanderers three years ago but returned to be a key player in the runners-up campaign of 07/08 and the title winning campaign of 08/09. Chipped in with 6 goals playing in a more advanced position, his highest tally for some time.

Danny Penny – Midfield/Forward
Danny is the club captain for the 2008/09 season once more and scooped both the Player’s Player of the Year award and Manager’s Player of the Year awards for the 2006/07 season just edging out golden boot winner Leroy Huggins. ‘Pens’ started his career at Welling United and then turned out for Southall before signing for the Vickers back in 2002. Part of the same VCD side as Gary Ward, David Hunt and Kevin Winchcombe that just missed out on the title to Maidstone on the last day of the 2002 season, Danny made up for that disappointment by captaining the side to the double  in the 08/09 season. A prolific goalscorer too who can play as a centre forward or in midfield and one of the best ball-strikers at the club. The top goalscorer at the club on 74 goals currently.

Lee Maskell – Midfield
Lee joined the club in January 2009 from Ryman North side Chatham Town. Lee is a former full time player having signed forms with Ebbsfleet before dropping down the pyramid to gain regular first team football with Ryman South Margate and Chatham Town. A composed footballer who is 6 foot 3 and a very good passer of the ball, Lee is hoping to push for a regular 1st team spot and follow in the footsteps of past Vickers teen prodigies such as Jon Main and Jack Parkinson (whom he played with at Margate). Lee joins fellow teenagers Kane Rice, Tom Bradshaw, George Mitchell and Uche Ibemere in the youthful Vickers Squad. Lee has fully recovered from a close-season groin operation that saw him miss the final weeks of the 08/09 campaign.

Callum O' Shea
Exciting nineteen year old winger who represented Eire at U14 to U18 level while on the books of Charlton Athletic FC. Signed for Ryman Premier side Cray Wanderers in 2009 and quickly made his way into the first team squad but elected to sign for VCD in February to gain regular first team action. Made his debut in the 1-0 defeat at home to Romford with an eye catching cameo. Made his first full debut in the fine away 2-1 win away to Harlow Town and scored his first goal in the following game away to Tilbury scoring the match winner with a well taken header. Callum joins the fine crop of Vickers teenagers such as George Mitchell, Tom Bradshaw, Jack Bradshaw, Uche Ibemere, Jack Asbury, Reece Walsh and Ryan Cole who are all making headlines for the first team.

Anthony Hogg – Midfield
Anthony joined the club for the final 6 games of the double winning campaign from Ryman South side Ashford. Anthony is probably the most experienced player at the club having turned out for Dover, Sittingbourne, Dartford, Welling, Folkestone and Tonbridge Angels. Just turned 30 Anthony is a key signing for the club as it embarks on a new chapter at a higher level. A left footed player who can play in a number of positions Anthony is the older brother of fellow Vicker Stephen and is capable of pitching in with his fair share of goals from midfield.

Uche Ibemere – Forward
Uche is another product of the club’s excellent youth system having played in the same side as fellow 17 year olds George Mitchell and Tom Bradshaw. Uche had spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Millwall FC but has returned to VCD where his pace, skill and strength have proved to be a major asset for the club. Uche is a player with huge promise and the management have high hopes for this talented teenager. Made 6 appearances in the double winning campaign but it is only a matter of time before he holds down a regular starting place given that he is virtually impossible to defend against in full flight.

Aaron Firth – Forward
Aaron signed for the Vickers in September 09 from Maidstone United having joined the Stones from Ramsgate. Aaron lives local to the club and is well known to Vickers fans having played against the club in his days in the Kent League having played for Herne Bay where he attracted the interest of numerous clubs. A bright, skilful player who is comfortable with either foot, Aaron is both a goalscorer and provider and, at 23 years of age, has the potential to go higher up the non-league pyramid. Aaron made his debut in the home win over Maldon Town on 19th September winning the all important penalty in the 1-0 victory.

Reece Walsh - Forward
Reece is a stablemate of Jack Asbury and has featured in the first team squad this season breaking through from the U21 side with some impressive performances for Ricky Bennett's side. Another former Ebbsfleet youth team player, Reece is only 19 but with a very strong physique and has proved he can cope with the physical demands of Ryman football with some powerful and pacy forward play. Made his debut in the 2-1 defeat away to Waltham Forest as a second half substitute and made his full debut in the 4-2 KSC win over Thamesmead but was forced to leave the field with an injury in the first half. Second top goalscorer for the U21 behind fellow first team squad player Ryan Cole.

Ryan Cole - Forward
Ryan is the third U21 to break into the First Team squad this season having impressed the management in games and training sessions with his pacy, direct play. Nineteen year old Ryan is also a former Ebbsfleet youth player who joined Ricky Bennett's U18 side with work colleague Jack Asbury. Ryan is one of the quickest players at the club and as his records show, he is also a proflific goalscorer currently top scorer for Ricky's exciting young side. Made his debut as a second half substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Heybridge Swifts on 6th February. Can play wide right or up front.
